GIGONDAS
"Bois des Mourres"
GRAPE VARIETIES
Grenache : 80 % - Mourvèdre : 10 % - Syrah/Cinsault : 10%
TERROIR
Gigondas vines nestle on Trignon little valley hillsides where a microclimate favour vines growth : cool nights, south-west exposure offer them sunsets on the Rhone valley. The nights are cool and airy, which helps slow the transfer of the grapes. The very poor limestone gravel subsoil has the advantage of well draining rainwaters. (River alluvium from mid terraces from Riss ice age)
VINIFICATION
Old vines are essentially handpicked, then 80% of grapes are scraped. Grapes stay in vats during more than 30 days with pouring over and delestage under temperature control (30° C max), racking and pressing of marc, with "press wine" excluded ; When Malo done, wine is grown in french oak wood barrels during 10 months (1/3 new, 1/3 one wine, 1/3 2 wines)
TASTING NOTES
Beautiful garnet robe, fine and clear. The nose is rich with spicy notes, licorice, espresso roast, plum. On the palate, this wine is round with a velvety texture, with fresh well blended tannins giving a fine persistence in end note.
SOMMELIER'S ADVISE
Culinary agreements : venison stew, truffles, fig duck magret.
Service : 16-18°C
Cellaring : 10 years.
