GIGONDAS
"Les Mourres"
GRAPE VARIETIES
Grenache : 80 % - Mourvèdre : 10 % - Syrah : 10%
TERROIR
Gigondas vines nestle on Trignon little valley hillsides where a microclimate favour vines growth : cool nights, south-west exposure offer them sunsets on the Rhone valley. The nights are cool and airy, which helps slow the transfer of the grapes. The very poor limestone gravel subsoil has the advantage of well draining rainwaters. (River alluvium from mid terraces from Riss ice age)
VINIFICATION
Old vines are essentially handpicked, then 80% of grapes are scraped. Grapes stay in vats during more than 30 days with pouring over and delestage under temperature control (30° C max), racking and pressing of marc with "press wine" excluded ; When Malo done, wine is aged in concrete tank.
TASTING NOTES
Beautiful garnet robe with deep and bright reflections. Its nose releases a complex aromatic palette with well ripped fruit flavours like blackberries and cherries, surrounded by an elegant filled touch. Well-balanced on the palate, gentle and concentrated, on candied fruit and spicies. Finish is long on straight tannins.
SOMMELIER'S ADVICES
Culinary agreements : local and traditional cuisine, rabbit with Garrigue herbs, boar civet.
Service : 16-18°C
Cellaring : 5-8 years.
